  2.1 Axial Ages, Eonic Effects

Last modified 07/01/2008

As we zoom out across the whole of world history we see the place of the Axial Age in a larger pattern we call the eonic effect, and the 'axial age' becomes one of a series of 'axial ages' in a complex pattern of evolutionary emergence in a macro pattern that is expressed in an 'eonic sequence' of transitions. And now we see that the core 'Israel' phenomenon with perfect timing is just one such transition. The riddle is resolved, and most remarkably this transition begins to take its place as an 'evolutionary phenomenon' in the sense of the 'eonic evolution' shown by the eonic effect as whole.

Most remarkable. After all the controversies of science and religion, religion and evolution, we see that in a special sense defined by the eonic effect, the Old Testament is a record of evolution!

We must at once, however, move to fix our understanding in terms of the eonic model as this expresses the eonic effect, with its two levels of analysis, macroaction and microaction. The overall context of the Axial Age shows us the macro factor, while the actions of the men in that Axial interval and Axial zone, as they recorded that in their own words, is the microaction. If the account loses its status as a mythological rendering it gains a renewed interest and fascination as a spectacular episode of historical 'macroevolution' of a very particular type.

Thus the emergence of this brand of monotheism is an 'eonic effect', an emergent evolutionary nexus associated with the overall master sequence.
