  2.3 Stream And Sequence

Last modified 07/01/2008

One way given by the eonic model for looking at the relationship of the complex whole and part shown in the eonic effect with its series of transitions is the idea of stream and sequence. We see an action on two levels, the stream of individual cultures and the larger sequence to which they contribute. We can thus clarify the division into 'two pieces' that we see in each case of the transitions at the stage of the Axial Age in the larger eonic sequence. Thus, each transitional area shows a sudden transformation in the prior outstanding cultural stream and the stream aspect of that culture is brought to contribute to the larger sequence. Most remarkable. We see thus the way the stream of a Canaanite culture is transformed into the stepping down for a much larger evolutionary sequence, a formulation that expresses perfectly what we see with the history of Israel, and indeed that of all cases in the parallel Axial phase of the greater sequence.
