  3.5 The Clue to Evolution

Last modified 04/23/2008

Let us interject here a reminder of what we proposed at the beginning, a recalibration of our views on (human) evolution in light of the Axial phenomenon, and the eonic effect. Even as we propose to do this, we should note that the rapid crystallization of evolutionary thought around Darwinism constitutes one of the liabilities of the post-transitional realization of the modern transition. We have already found the elements for a new way to braid our notions of history and evolution, and these will allow us to both fulfill and transcend the idea of a science of history, hence of human evolution. The eonic model offers an especially ingenious way to reconcile the apparent contradiction in its application of the idea of two levels in the evolutionary emergence of man and civilization, macro and micro.
